The purpose of the job is to provide personal and professional development opportunities for students and young professionals. Successful candidates will work as a Teaching Centre Assistant to support the operations and marketing team in Chennai.

Role overview
The responsibilities will involve:
Assist Young Learners:
- to support our teachers during class with administration, materials preparation and during classroom activities as required
- to ensure children are supervised before class, at break times and when being picked up by parents as per British Council’s Child Protection Policy while they are inside the British Council premises
- to help customer services and teachers.
Level Testing:
- invigilate & monitor Level Testing - written assessment tests conducted at the British Council and external client locations
- mark test papers using answer key
- to collate test scores and place them in the secure locker assigned
- to be responsible for test materials and store them in a secure place as advised by Teaching Centre Management after the end of session.
Calls:
Calling customers for the following reasons and updating the relevant documents/records,
- Absenteeism: To call students and check on absenteeism, update the log for Teachers reference and to give students the options of credit or refund if they are not willing to continue classes
- Class cancellation: To inform students if classes are cancelled and give related information
- Reminders and Marketing: To remind customers about their Level Test appointment and give information on courses offered, fees, availability of seats and terms and conditions Rescheduling appointments as and when needed
- Customer service and counselling: Counselling students on course details during Registration week to ease the customer journey.
Meet and Greet (M&G):
- to assist CS team at the front desk as meet & greet staff during level test of 9 and more students per slot.
Eligibility:
The candidate should
- be above 18 years of age
- hold a Higher Secondary Certificate (Class XII) or equivalent
- have good English language and communication skills
- be available for work on weekdays and/or weekends
- be customer friendly, enthusiastic, flexible, and responsible
- enjoy working with children and may have an interest in teaching
- be willing to follow the British Council’s Child Protection Policy.
