We are committed to providing opportunities for English language teachers to access world-leading continuing professional development opportunities and reach their fullest potential. To support this in 2024-25 we offered five fully-funded scholarships for English Teachers and/or Teacher Educators from India from the University of Stirling and the University of Portsmouth.
These scholarships are a great opportunity for teachers who are unable to spend a year in the UK doing a face-to-face course. The option of studying for the online courses includes a two-week fully funded residential visit to the universities as part of the programme.
The scholarship will cover the following:
- IELTS exam costs
- Tuition fees
- Stipend for living expenses while in the UK
- Flights and connecting travel to the UK
- Visa costs and insurance
Additionally, the scholarships provide a platform for the teachers to form a network and benefit from ongoing engagement with the British Council. Through these networks, teachers can support each other to improve the teaching and learning opportunities for young people in India, during and after completing their online courses.
