When will suspended courses resume?

In light of the Government advisory on closing all educational institutions, we are postponing English Language Centre classes in Delhi, Chennai, and Kolkata. Online and virtual courses will continue as planned. Until it is safe to resume face-to-face classes we will teach you via online virtual classrooms. All students will receive emails with information on how virtual classes work, when lessons begin and how to use the online platform.

We thank you for your understanding in this matter, and regret inconvenience caused, if any.

What are you offering students while face to face classes are suspended

We understand your concern when it comes to the progression of your course and the hours it will require. Accordingly, we are offering all students the option to continue learning through online virtual classrooms. We will do our best to ensure your course lessons take place at the same times, with the same teacher and classmates.

How do virtual classrooms work?

It is our endeavour to support your learning in these uncertain times and facilitate the same learning outcomes despite the ongoing situation.

Adults courses

Virtual classes will be conducted via Zoom (a web-conferencing tool). Zoom will allow you to practice your speaking and writing with your teacher and classmates in real-time and do pair and group work, just as you would in a  face-to-face lesson.

We will provide instructions on how to download Zoom via email instructions before your first lesson.

Children courses

These virtual classrooms include live lessons with the teacher and self-study activities to be completed online before and after each live lesson.

We will be providing details on the secure, online learning platform via email to keep children safe while they are online.

If you have feedback on how the experience can be improved, please share this with your teacher during the course so these issues can be addressed. Your teacher is there to help you meet your learning goals

Can I transfer my registration (or my child's registration) to a future class or claim a refund

In light of the rapidly evolving Covid-19 situation and the prevailing uncertainty, we would like to reassure that our duty of care to you is of paramount importance to us. This also means that we are committed to continue your learning experience, by adapting ourselves to an alternative route of online classes. We would encourage you to opt for these classes.

However, we will hold credits for you to resume your learning whenever possible. Refunds are handled on a case by case basis, as per policy. If you would like to reschedule or claim a refund, please contact us at indiacustomercare@britishcouncil.org

When will course re-registrations open?

The safety and well-being of all our customers and staff is our priority. While we are assessing the situation and will continue to make decisions in line with the government directives, it is difficult to commit as to when it will be safe to resume face to face classes. Accordingly, we will keep you posted on the decision and timeline for the Teaching Centres to reopen.

As an alternative, we do have online and virtual classes available for students fo all ages. We hope you enjoy continuing your learning with a British Council teacher from the safety of your home.
