This International Women's Day, we celebrate gender and inclusion through audio visual as we amplify the voices of women from diverse backgrounds and experiences. From a French Psychologist to an Indonesian model, a Japanese homemaker, and a sex worker (who is also an HIV survivor) from Kolkata, each of these remarkable women will share their unique journey and perspectives on navigating gender-based violence through a short documentary filmed by Sreyashi Ghosh. This will be followed by a panel discussion on women’s empowerment and position as role models, what we can do to create awareness about trafficking and audio-visual stimulations to generate conversations and shared and lived experiences across cultures. Women Voices is a serious commentary on life with a unique juxtaposition of art and human rights issues: where art is an imitation of life: aesthetic appeal and artistic expression are both intrinsically woven into this movie. Many of these women featured have lived as expats in Calcutta such as Natalie Danion, Nina Saxer, Corina Popa.
Meet the panellists: Sreyashi Ghosh, International poet/artist, and a gender and human rights activist as well as a film maker, Dr Niladri Chatterjee, author and professor of English and gender studies at Kalyani University, Rukshana Kapadia, The Culinary Commentator blogger and co-founder of Ammolite Ideators F&B and LGBTQ++ torchbearer and Prof Subha Das Mollick, media teacher and documentary film maker.
