British Council invites you to Literary Lounge, exploring the short listed books for Man Booker prize 2016.
The Man Booker Prize for Fiction, first awarded in 1969 is a literary prize awarded each year for the best original novel, written in the English language, and published in the UK. Over the last four decades this prize alone has introduced to the world the most outstanding works of contemporary literature. As book lovers around the world await the winning title to be announced on October 25, 2016, join us in getting acquainted with the shortlisted titles in a fun filled evening.
The event Literary Lounge, curated by Nirmala Govindarajan, brings together a panel of readers including Arul Mani, Ashish Sen, Christina Daniels, Romal Laisram and Zahid Javali. The panel will read passages and from each of the short listed books and present them in their own unique style.

About the Panellists:
Nirmala Govindarajan is a journalist by default, author of The Community Catalyst, co-author of Mind Blogs 1.0 and two other socio-political fiction novels. When she is not writing an article or a book, she finds her lost self in rural India, documenting, rejuvenating, exploring…
Arul Mani is a senior Lecturer, English at St. Joseph’s College. He is a contributor to various publications and is Karnataka’s ace quiz wizard.
Ashish Sen is a theatre person, community media trainer and consultant. He is currently advisor to the board of directors of AMARC, Asia Pacific.
Christina Daniels is the author of I’ll Do It My Way: The Incredible Journey of Aamir Khan and Ginger Soda Lemon Pop, also co-author of Mind Blogs 1.0, curator of the Urban Solace Book Lovers’ Club, a corporate story teller and founder of History In Your Backyard. She enjoys spinning a good yarn.
Romal Laisram is a 30-year old, openly gay, editor, writer and performance artist with a decade of experience in writing. He is also actively involved with the Human Rights movement and is often reluctantly (by his own admission) called an LGBTQI activist.
Zahid H Javali is the co-author of Mind Blogs 1.0. He is an editor and custom publisher, and when he is not reading on his Kindle, he is editing books and magazines.
