British Council is proud to host Rakasree Basu, an alumnus of the University of Glasgow with a postgraduate degree in Creative Industries and Cultural Policy, Rakasree is a British Council India Creative Economy scholar. Recognised for her exceptional contributions to the creative economy sector, she was awarded the fellowship of the Royal Society of Arts, London, and the India Achiever’s Award – 75 at 75 by NISAU and the British Council in 2023.
Rakasree Basu pioneered the convergence of Nordic and Indian cinematic landscapes. She is the founder and driving force behind Frames Per Second Films, a female-led Indian production house based in Mumbai. She also served as an advisor to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, helping to set up the Film Facilitation Office (FFO), formulating guidelines for the Film Visa and filming incentive policy for international co-productions and service production projects.
