In 2015, director Richie Mehta asked the people of India to capture their day and send their footage to him.
His aim was to create a documentary which celebrates – through the widest possible range of characters – the richness and diversity of everyday life in modern India.
The resutling film, India In A Day, is India’s largest ever crowd sourced documentary, telling the story of a single day. The film offers a remarkable insight into the lives, loves, fears and hopes of people living in India today.
"What emerged is a genuine expression from vast groups of people who do not have a public voice." – Richie Mehta
Ahead of the film's release in India, watch this exclusive interview with Richie Mehta, filmed earlier this year at Sheffield Doc/Fest, where India In A Day had its world premiere back in June.
India In A Day opens in selected theatres across India on 23 September 2016. The film was executive produced by Ridley Scott and Anurag Kashyap, and directed by Richie Mehta.
