Dr. S. Padma is responsible for aligning research objectives with the vision of the Government of India and CSIR, securing funding, and ensuring impactful outcomes. She contributes to government policy initiatives in the transport sector and develops standards for transportation engineers.
Since completing her PhD, Dr. Padma has led several high-impact projects, including studies on passenger route choices with countdown systems, traffic impacts near Delhi’s CBD, metro service improvements, air pollution dispersion modeling using ADMS, and Ahmedabad’s Comprehensive Mobility Plan. Her work reflects a commitment to advancing research and shaping policies for sustainable transportation solutions.

Trip Patterns and Intermediate Public Transport Services in Imphal, India
It is found that public transport is negligent in Imphal and it is the Intermediate Public Transport (IPT) which cater to the needs of travel in the city of Imphal. Therefore, it is imperative to assess whether the existing IPT services in the city meets the demand generated for travel. The study was funded by National Mission on Himalayan Studies vide grant number GBPNI/NMHS-2019- 20/SG, 25.12.2019
Study findings indicate possibility of e auto for commute. The shift to e auto is found to be 34% of the total IPT trips. The network design enables location of possible auto stands. The deterrence function shall help in assessing the accessibility to various public Infrastructure based point of interest . The study has shown the means of identifying wards having higher social vulnerability.
