The workshop will focus on teaching English in a Multilingual class and will explore how to:
- get to know your learners.
- plan for multilingual lessons.
- use activities from coursebooks to teach multilingual learners.
About the facilitator
Dr Lina Mukhopadhyay is Professor and Head, Department of Training and Development, School of English Language Education at The English and Foreign Languages University, Hyderabad, India. She researches in multilingual education, second language acquisition, language assessment and teaching young language learners. At present, she is working on multiple projects in collaboration with the University of Cambridge on multilingual education, teacher training and multilingual assessment in India. Her collaboration with British Council, India and the United Kingdom, has been on teacher research and education and multilingual education for over a decade now. Her recent publications in national and international journals and books are in the areas of multilingual education and translanguaging for pedagogical purposes and multilingual assessment.
Who can participate: Primary and secondary teachers teaching in state board and CBSE board schools.
