Michael is the Deputy Director for India, overseeing the cultural engagement portfolio while also focusing on our work in north India. His last stint was with the British Council Pakistan, where he has worked since 2018, first as Director Sindh and Balochistan, and since October 2020 as Director Punjab. During this time he developed and delivered a diverse portfolio of projects in education, English and the arts.
Michael has been a part of the British Council in 2012, and has worked in Beijing, Cairo and Kabul. He worked to introduce the UK apprenticeship model in China for the first time; set up and managed a £20m fund to support UK-Egypt research partnerships, and led the British Council’s work on education and civil society in Afghanistan.
He enjoys reading, hiking, learning languages, and playing guitar.
