We are pleased to announce that the call for papers for the 2025 New Directions in Language Assessment South Asia conference is now open. We invite proposals that address the main conference theme and focus in particular on our four sub-themes.

Conference theme and sub-themes

Theme: 

Technology and tradition: the changing face of assessment in English language learning systems

Sub-themes:

  1. English for employability
  2. Artificial Intelligence (AI) in English education
  3. Assessing young learners
  4. The role of English in multilingual education contexts

Conference dates

The conference will convene on 21 and 22 February, 2025 in New Delhi, India.

Conference format

New Directions South Asia 2025 will take place as an in-person conference in New Delhi, India. 

Presenters who wish to be part of the conference will be required to present in person in New Delhi, India.

  • Call for papers opens: 19 September 2024 
  • Paper proposal submission deadline: 30 October 2024 (11:59 PM Indian Standard Time) [extended until 6 November 2024 (11:59 PM Indian Standard Time)] The call for papers is now closed. Thank you for your submissions. Submitters will be notified of the outcome by 9 December 2024.
  • Notification of acceptance: 4 December 2024 [revised to 9 December 2024]
  • Speaker confirmation deadline: 18 December 2024 [revised to 21 December 2024]

 

Registration fee

Accepted paper presenters will receive a registration voucher and can register for no fee. Non-speaking attendees will need to register and pay the registration fee.
